Off to Montreal

Well, generally I’ve tried to keep my lives separate. Seems that’s the way things are suppose to be done. I’m referring to having a Secondlife, in addition to a general “digital” life, but that’s all about to change. After several setbacks it seems I am in fact going to make it the the Montreal Secondlife Musician’s Meetup this weekend hosted by my favorite SL musician, Montian Gilruth (aka Ian Gray). The prospect of meeting even a handful of the people I’ve rubbed elbows with in SL’s Live Music industry is a little daunting on most levels, but the music will more than pay for having to “cross worlds” in such a fashion.
In other news related to virtual worlds, ZoeB invited me to do some co-editing on a publishing project about women’s cultural experiences in SL. The call for papers went out last month and so far there have been some really intriguing responses. I never thought I’d be interested in anything so “graduate school”, but the widely disparate contexts these women give to their time in a virtual world has really been fascinating. I’m still hoping to get more responses from women who’ve really “lived” in secondlife and not been caught up in studying it, but we’ll see.
